Many professionals work withperimeter on a daily basis. The
perimeter is the total distance around the outer edge of a shape. In some
professions, this distance is needed in order to purchase the correct amount
of supplies for a project. In irregularpolygons, simply add up the lengths of
all of the sides in order to calculate a figure’s perimeter. Regularpolygons
have nequal sides that are all sunits long. Therefore, the perimeter can be
found by multiplying the number of sides by the length of each side: P= ns.
The following illustration shows a few other types polygons that have
perimeter formulas.
