Is the cuphalf empty or half full? In geometry, it is neither half empty,
nor half full; it is half the volume.
Volumeis the three-dimensional space within a solid three-dimensional
figure. Remember from chapter 14 that surface area defines the outer planes
of a three-dimensional object. Everything within that object is volume. Vol-
ume is what is inside the shapes you see.
