Positive and Negative Slopes


Slope is interpreted similarly to how words are read—from left to right. If
a line is angled upward as you look at it from left to right, then it has a pos-
itive slope. Conversely, if a line is angled downward when read from left to
right, it has a negative slope. In the following coordinate plane, line lhas a
positive slope and line rhas a negative slope.
