Slope-Intercept Form of Linear Equations
The second form for linear equations is the Slope-Intercept form:
Slope-Intercept Form of Linear Equations:y = mx + b, where m
and bare numbers and xand yremain as variables. This form is partic-
ularly useful since mwill always be the slope and bwill always be the
y-intercept. The y-interceptis where the line crosses the y-axis. Lines
in this form are easy to graph: plot the y-intercept, use the slope to
plot two other points, and connect!
