Triangles


The simplest polygon is the triangle. It has the fewest sides and angles that
a polygon can have.

Sides: AB, BCand CA


Vertices: ∠ABC, ∠BCA, and ∠CAB

Triangles can be classified by their angles or by their sides. When look-
ing at the congruence or incongruence of triangle sides, all triangles can be
grouped into one of three special categories.


Naming Triangles by Their Sides



  1. Scalene triangles have no congruent sides and no congruent angles.
