Forest Fox Project
DESIGN BY KAY WIDDOWSON
Get ready to pounce on this delightfully detailed
woodland scene, complete with local wildlife
autumn
O
ne of the best times of the year
is that magical moment, on
the cusp of autumn, just as the
leaves start to change colour. There’s
an unmistakable crispness in the air,
and the days just feel different. So,
get ready for the change in seasons
with these crisp oranges, greens and
browns. Here, curled up within a pile
of colourful leaves, is a dozing fox
with a roguish glint in his eye, his
sneaky sight on a bright, chirpy robin
perched on a leaf up above.
This seasonal project is a real treat
for your eyes as you admire the level
of detail and technique throughout.
The use of backstitch, in particular,
to define the fluffy fox’s fur and
surrounding plentiful foliage is simply
stunning. Plus, Kay’s recognisable
playful style will make you smile and
feel all cosy inside.
You can bring a bit of nature into
your own home by mounting this
charming scene onto a canvas, as
we’ve done here, or by displaying it
in a rustic wooden frame.
Tu m b l e i n t o
I remember seeing a fox once, scurrying
across my garden. I’ll never forget those
pointed triangular ears and that bushy tail –
I knew that one day I’d just have to capture
those features in my art.
