Lighthouse Project
Fiona designed this Stormy Night lightning
fabric with Sew-it-All specifically for this
lighthouse design. Here we’ve stitched
the design centrally on the piece of fabric,
but if you wanted the lightning bolt in a
different position, you can always adjust to
suit. Before you start stitching, remember
to make sure to leave enough space
around the edges for framing or making
up into the finished item of your choice.

If you’ve never stitched with
glow-in-the-dark thread
before, you’re in for a treat!
For the best results and
to prevent fraying, work
with shorter lengths of
DMC Light Effects glow-in-
the-dark thread, no more
than 30cm (12in). If the
thread becomes twisted
while stitching, just let your
needle drop and it’ll then
unwind all by itself.
To make your project
glow, expose it to light for
a few minutes, then turn
off the light and watch
it gleam in the dark – it’s
simply magical!
use glow-in-the-
dark thread
How to...
I’m in love with this stormy fabric
- it gives me goosebumps! It’s a
powerful, exciting image and gives
the illusion of a big, rumbling
storm. This, plus stitching the
swirling sea at the bottom gives
the scene a sense of depth.
