18.2.6 Piston
A piston is cylindrical in form and reciprocates in a cylinder. The petrol engine piston is generally
die cast in aluminium alloy. It is connected to the small end of the connecting rod by means of a
gudgeon pin. Figure 18.6 shows the details of the petrol engine piston assembly.
