There have been a few
disappointing game releases of
late, with titles from teams who
should be hitting the mark every
time falling some way short.
While glitches are inevitable, GTA:
The Trilogy Definitive Edition in
particular doesn’t even appear to
have been put through the most
basic of QA tests before release.
Another title that suffered
a backlash was the much-
anticipated Cyberpunk 2077. From
CD Projekt, the same dev team as
the Witcher games, this seemed
like a recipe for success—a vastly
detailed open-world game with
a futuristic aesthetic—but we all
know how that tale went. Luckily,
I didn’t pre-order the game, so
avoided paying over-the-odds for
this glitch-ridden mess.
Fast forward 13 months and,
prompted by a Steam sale, I
thought I’d give it a go. It’s still a
little rough around the edges, but
the next-gen 1.5 patch due shortly
should finally polish off those
bugs. I’ve become immersed—the
level of detail is incredible.
Admittedly, I’ve been playing
it on our recent Alder Lake PC
build, so I can have the sliders
all the way up. It isn’t the same
experience in lower settings and
it’s still unbearable on the PS4
and Xbox One consoles. But if you
haven’t yet played Cyberpunk,
now’s a good time to give it a try.SHOW FILE EXTENSION TYPES
File types are hidden by default in Windows, which can be
annoying when you’re searching for a particular document,
photograph, or application. To turn these on, go to the search
icon and look for ‘File Explorer Options’. In these settings, go
to the view tab and uncheck the box named ‘Hide extensions
for known file types’. Now, the next time you head back to your
file explorer, you will be able to see all the file extensions.64
