electricalwork.In his freetime,heloved
to gardenalongsidehis wife.This “hobby”
becamealaborof love.Itwas in the garden
that he taughthis childrenand grandchildren
the value of hardwork,nurturing,and
patience.
He is survivedby his belovedwifeof 69
years,Ermione,cherisheddaughterHelen,
and devotedson Harry(Tina).Alsosurvived
by his four grandchildren,John,Helen,Angel-
ica (Stephen),and Jennifer;his great-grand-
daughter,Sophia;as wellas numerous
nieces,nephews,and extendedfamily,both
in the UnitedStatesand Greece.

2, at 11 a.m. at SaintKatherineGreekOrtho-

Johnwas bornApril15, 1923on the island
of Evia,in the townof Kadi,Greece.He
wasthe youngestof five childrenbornto
JohnAristotleSpanos,who died two months
beforehe was born,and Despina(Skoulides)
Spanos.The familymovedtoAthenswhenhe
was ayoungboy,wherehe graduatedfrom
highschool.He was draftedinto the Greek
Armyin 1944,and servedas atelecom-
municationsexpert.Johngot marriedand
emigratedto the UnitedStatesin 1953with
his wife,the love of his life,Ermione(Kara-
george)Spanos.The familylivedin Washing-
ton, DC,and latersettledin Falls Church,VA.
Togetherwithhis wifeof nearly70 years,
theysuccessfullyownedand operatedmul-
tiplerestaurantsacrossthe areaincluding
the famedCaesar’sForumin McLean,VA.
Simultaneously,John boughtseveral com-
mercialreal estateproperties.Hewould ulti-
matelyretirefromthe restaurant businessto
focuson expandinghis real estatebusiness,
and workedtirelesslymanagingthe business
