A PRODIGAL START
Djukaric felt an inner calling to be an
artist from a young age. He drew
incessantly, sometimes to the exclu-
sion of other, more typical childhood
pursuits. “My art was my favorite toy.
Handling school responsibilities or
even playing with other children
wasn’t that important,” he says.
As his drawing skills developed,
adults started to take notice, admiringABOVE

because of them. When he sold his
fi rst drawing in primary school, it
gave him the confi dence to pursue art
as a career. “All my fears disappeared,”
he says. “Th at was the turning point of
my life, the point when art became my
great love, passion and calling. Painting
became my diagnosis and my dream.”
Th e young, budding artist spent
time in the ateliers of diff erent
