sort of asked, “Who are you?” It was
pretty funny. I showed them more
paintings that I’d done using my
method, which wasn’t at all in vogue.
The members were quite surprised,
to put it mildly. [To learn about one

Q: Talk a little more about your sub-
ject matter and how you express it.
A: Because the medium density fiber-
board (MDF) support that I use isn’t
as forgiving as paper-based supports,
my drawing must be accurate. While
it might be the reflections on a hull
[see Blue on the Morning, below] that
initially attracted me, what interests
