important principle, which I
felt strongly about. To me
this was a human rights issue.
Surely rivers are natural
resources. They are part of
our common heritage; it’s not
right to say to people you can
only use the river if you own
a boat, but not if you don’t.
Every Briton should be
entitled to swim down our
rivers to our heart’s content –
providing we do so safely.
