a feat unheard of for either
woman or man. It was a
journey that would take her
twelve days and establish her
as a pioneer when it came to
Thames swimming. In 1890
Easton’s attempt to swim for
six days from Oxford had
ended in failure on the fourth
day; now here was a woman
easily completing a swim that
lasted three times longer, with
around forty miles of it in the
Thames.
