By the end of 1893 the
King’s Meadow pool had
undergone ‘extensive
alterations and enlargement’.
The bath was now 230 feet
long and 60 feet wide, with a
‘water area of 1,400 square
yards’, 6 inches of concrete at
the bottom and a springboard.
The south end of the bath, at
3 feet deep, was reserved for
learners with a lifeguard rail
fixed just above the waterline.
