The Ladies’ Bath was a
brick and tile building
surrounding an open-air pool,
smaller than the men’s at 120
feet by 45 feet, with a depth
of 6 feet at the deep end and 3
feet at the shallow, and a
filter stopped fish getting into
the pool. The press called it ‘a
handsome structure, replete
with every convenience’,
completed after ‘considerable
engineering difficulties’ and
‘second to none in the
