Nutritional demands also require that you look at yourself.
Firstly, let’s look to what food you crave, in our example cheese.
We must look at the nutrients contained within cheese – calcium,
protein, many saturated and mono-unsaturated fats. It is a dairy
product. Imagine you have chosen to leave out all dairy products
from your diet, because excess in mucus leaves you feeling full in
the mornings and throughout the day. You have already left the
carbohydrates out of your diet, so it is time to look for suitable
substitute. Fish or milk are both high protein and fat foods. But you
have given up dairy and are strictly vegetarian. Another food that
is high in proteins and fats is hemp seed, which is both vegetarian
and dairy free. So, next time you have a craving for cheese try
some hemp seeds, hemp seed milk or choose some other recipe
that contains a lot of the nutritious hemp grain.


If you start craving parmesan cheese or chocolate, which
are both high in calcium, then try and substitute this for another
high calcium food such as oranges or broccoli, or add carob flour
to your diet. However, there are times when it is not the major
nutrients but a trace element that you do not receive from the food
that you crave. You will be able to tell when. If by eating an orange
meal for three re-programming sessions, you still want to eat
some parmesan then the nutrient you need is not calcium.


The hard part is to take conscious control of habitual
tendencies. This control is temporary and involves a re-
programming of the mind; all that is needed is to feed the body
with a different source of the required nutrients. It may be another
nutrient in cheese that is required and if the first choice substitute
does not immediately work, try again as there is always a tasty,
enjoyable and healthy substitute to everything, physical or
otherwise. Either way, give yourself a hug. Number one rule, do
not worry! You will find what is best for you, but it will happen
when the time is right and not before. You will know when you are
over the cravings and if it is not with a new food it will be by finding
that empty space inside that you are trying to fill.
