Coffee
and
Tea
Both acid stimulants and so they should be avoided. Try the
organic ‘cereal coffees’ or rooibosch tea as alternatives.
Dulse,
Spinach
and
Celery
Super foods containing a high balanced sources of sodium,
balancing alkaline forming foods. Sea vegetables, as we will see
later also contain most trace minerals. Mix well with most foods.
Pulses
and
Legumes (expect soya bean)
This group is a complicated mix of starch and protein, tough their
starch content is generally higher. They are also acid forming, so
best mixed with a large green alkaline salad for balance. Some
people have difficulty digesting such foods – in any case, eat in
moderation. When sprouted, foods such as nuts, seeds, pulses
and legumes undertake a substantial chemical change, and starch
decreases enough to class them as a vegetable or salad food.
They are now more digestible with all foods and higher in
nutrients, including live enzymes.
Sugars
All refined sugars should be avoided or strictly controlled as with
starch foods. When cooking replace sugar with honey, maple
sugar, apple juice concentrates or brown rice syrup. Avoid any
sweeteners as they are usually chemical based.
