Hemp

 and

 Cosmetics

Hemp’s nutrients can be absorbed, as food is orally, through daily
beauty treatments. Due to hemp’s high content of polyunsaturated
fatty acids (nearly 80%), the oil is a perfect base for the production
of cosmetic. Acting as a moisturizer it soothes nearly all types of
dry skin. In shampoos, conditioners, message oils and hair care
products, hemp improves shine as well as being able to relieve a
dry scalp. The EFAs in hemp oil, combined with the GLA content,
can be absorbed through the skin. Consuming such fats internally,
as foods or food supplements, is proven to smooth the skin and
reduce scaling, cracking and other dry skin defects caused by a
dietary lack of EFAs. Massage is an important part of natural
therapies and hemp massage oil is pleasure to use.

 Soap

 Making

To make soap, and some of our toxic bodies do need to use it
regularly, it is relatively simple process using a fat (acid) and some
ash (alkali) to neutralize the fatty acids in the fat, which forms a
soap.

Making

 Lye

You will need a barrel with drilled holes in the bottom. Fill a layer
(10%) with gravel. Add another layer (10%) of straw and then fill
the rest of the barrel with hardwood ashes (softwood are not as
good). Pour rainwater on these ashes and collect the liquid in a
pan. This takes time, so be patient. Boil this liquid down using a
fire or stove until it is a thick concentrate – this is known as lye. It
is very powerful so do not place it in an aluminum container, as
the lye will eat up the aluminum!
