Step 1:
On your blank map, locate the positions of the cities listed below, use an atlas if
needed. At the point on the map where each city is located, write the temperature in
degrees Fahrenheit. Obtain the data from the newspaper.

Cities:
Cincinnati, OH Albany, NY Norfolk, VA
Columbus, OH Baltimore, MD Philadelphia, PA
Buffalo, NY Cleveland, OH Washington, DC
Richmond, VA Pittsburgh, PA Wiilmington, DE

Step 2:
a. Circle the six coolest temperatures with a blue crayon or pencil.
b. Circle the six warmest temperatures with a red crayon or pencil.

Step 3:
Look at your satellite image of the United States.

  2. Why do you think the temperatures are separated the way they are?

  3. Now observe the satellite image of the eastern United States, taken the same day
    as the temperatures.
