The-star of -the-Great-Twins.
Thereare many greatandlittletwin-starsin the heavens, and,as
previouslynoticed,* the well-known " Great Twins" of the solar
Zodiacare Castor and Pollux ; but here we traverse the same region
(the ecliptic) froma different starting-point; and as we know exactly
wherewe have nowreached,i. e., immediately to the east of Aries,
we have no difficulty in recognizing "theGreatTwins"as the two
famousasterismsof the Pleiades and the Hyades, the 3rd Arabian
moonstation,includingAldebaran(" He-that-follows "—the Pleiades),
the 4th Arabian moon-station, so constantly coupledby the classic
writers, fromthe W\i)iahai ff 'Ya&ai of the Iliad downwards. Speak
ing of Perseus, Aratossays:—
