ugby league players often speed up and down the pitch,
twisting and turning with the ball as they drive their team
to victory. At Warrington, in the north-west of England, a
different type of speeding, turning and driving had the
players and fans cheering recently.
A six-year-old girl, known only as Whizzy Rascal, made
a special appearance just as a match was about to start.
Behind the wheel of a battery-powered mini car, her job was
to deliver the ball to the referee in the centre of the pitch as
Warrington Wolves prepared for kick-off against Castleford
Tigers in the Super League. Whizzy Rascal, though, drove
from one side of the stadium to the other and totally ignored

the referee. Still clutching the ball, she turned round, raced
back and whizzed past the puzzled referee once again.
The crowd cheered and laughed as the young Wolves
fan entertained everyone with her driving display.
Eventually Wolfie, the club mascot, got hold of the ball
and the match could begin. As Whizzy Rascal got out of
the car she waved to the supporters.
Wolves won 34-10 to complete a memorable night
for her. Warrington Wolves revealed to The Week Junior
that they are keeping Whizzy Rascal’s identity a secret
until later in the season. She will be making more special
appearances, so fans haven’t seen the last of her.
