A Florilegium ascribed to John Damascene, composed probably in the sixth
century, consisted of three books. The work was made up of selections from
the Old and New Testaments and from the Church Fathers. The first book
dealt with things divine, the second book with human affairs (nepl ouora-
OCCJC Kai KaTaoTaoewc TUV avSpumvuv npaYMaTuv). These two books were
entitled Ta (epd, "Sacred Things." The third book had to do with virtues and
vices and bore the title Ta TTapaAAyjAa, "The Parallels." Parts of this work,
The Sacred Parallels, are preserved in numerous MSS. (see Holl, Texte und
Untersuchungen, N.F. 1,1 and V, 2). Extracts from the first two books of the
Sacred Parallels (the third book is lost) which also contain extracts from

    Contains: according to a list in vol. X, 379, of Mai's edition, extracts
    from Philo's QE, QG, Spec iii. g, Spec i. c, LA iii, iv, vii, viii, ix, xiii,
    from Ttepl TUV £v TG) vouy £y)TV)|jdT(JV, and Quaestiones in Leviticum.
