The Politics of Philo Judaeus: Practice and Theory, with a General Bibliography of Philo

(Joyce) #1
MANUSCRIPTS OF PHILO 175
Symeon Logothetes is primary. The original chronicle goes back per
haps to the last quarter of the fourth century. The Philo extracts pre
served in this chronicle come from QG and are compared by Praechter
with Aucher's Latin translation of the Armenian version. For the read
ings of Vaticanus 163 Praechter used a collation made by Dr. H.
Graeven in Rome. The beginning of the Logothetes chronicle (not yet
completely published) is to be found in the Codices Mosquenses of
Georgius Monachus and is published in Muralt, Georgios Monachos,
pp. 902-914. A recension of Georgius Monachus is to be found in
Vindobonensis hist. gr. 40. For the editions of Leon, Theodosios, and
Polydeukes see Krumbacher, Gesch. d. byz. Litter., 136.
See Karl Praechter, no. 430.
