of Philo on account of a passage in Satyre I, lines 129-132, which later
commentators have explained using Philo to authenticate their state­
ments. The reference is to the aegyptius atque arabarches on sig. avir
in which present day commentators see a reference to Tiberius Alex­
ander, son of Alexander the Alabarch, Philo's brother. Satyre VI, sig.
diinr and v, lines 155-159, contains a reference to Queen Bernice who
was married to Marcus, the oldest son of Alexander Alabarch, and
