The Politics of Philo Judaeus: Practice and Theory, with a General Bibliography of Philo

(Joyce) #1
314 A BIBLIOGRAPHY OF PHILO
XCVHr; both of these accounts are accompanied by woodcuts of
Philo. See Plate VIII.
1562.* [Schedel, Hartmann], Das buck der Croni\en und geschichten, trans
lated by Georgius Alt, Nurmburg, Anthon Koberger, 25 December
1493, folio. Hain #i45io. There are two accounts of Philo each accom
panied by woodcuts which are different from those used in the Latin
edition. The first is on folio LXXXVr, the second on folio XCVIIr.
1563.* Reuchlin, Ioannis, De verbo mirifico, Basilaea, Iohannes Amerba-
chius, ca. 1494, folio. Hain #i388o. See c 6 r.
1564.* Tritheim, Johann, Liber de scriptoribus ecclesiasticis, Basileae, Iohan
nes de Amerbach, [after 28 August] 1494. Hain ^15613. The account of
Philo Judaeus is on folio 3r, and is a digest of the account by Jerome.
But the list of works by Philo which follows differs from that of
Jerome on so many points that it suggests that Tritheim may have had
a Philo manuscript now lost.^6
1565.* Juuenalis, [Decimus Junius], Satyrae, with the commentaries of
Domitius Calderinus and Georgius Valla, Lugdunus (Lyons), Johan
nes de Vingle, 18 May 1495, quarto. Hain 9708. See folios XXIr,
LXVIIv, and LXVIIIr.

bach, 1495, quarto. Hain ^12979. See s 7 r.

nes Rubeus Vercellensis, 7 January, 12 July, 1496, 2 parts in one, folio.
Hain ^8563. See folios 31V, 22or, 221V, 232r, 28or.
1568.* Hieronymus, Epistole, [Venice, Pincius, ca. 1496 (F)], folio. Hain
^8564. See folios 31VA, 22orB, 22ivA and B, 232rB, 28orA.

1570.* Voragine, Jacobus de, Lombardica historia {Legenda aurea), Argen-
tinus (Strassburg), [printer of the 1483 Jordanus de Quedlinburg, ca.

well as in all the editions printed in English by Caxton, Wynken de Worde, and Pynson, the
    reference to Philo is omitted.
