kings)of Saba. Andnow we have a Minaean inscriptiondatingfrom
the time of one of the Ptolemies!
Yet if we investigate the matter closer, whata difference is there
betweenthe old Minaean inscriptionsand this one! There the names
of one or two Minaean kings, the worship of many differentMinaean
deities (e.g., Athar, Wadd, Nikrah, etc.), the names of national
Minaeanmonths (e.g., -o»- .j), here the name of an Egyptian king

witha date of his reign, merelyEgyptiandeitiesand the name of an
Egyptianmonth! In my opinion, thereis an interval hereof several
centuries, perhapsevenof a thousand years. But allow the inscrip
tion to speak for itself, of which I will give a transliteration and my
own translation, the more so, because Prof.Golenisheffhas only
renderedthe above citedphrases.
