Notes.
The papyrusAd gives this chapterthe title of " assuming the
formof the Smen-goose," andDr. Birchpublishedthe text of this
papyrusin the Zeitschrift of 1869 (p. 25) as one of those additional
chapterswhich"donotoccur in the Ritual of Turin." Thisis of
coursean error of oversight. This chapteris in the Turin lodten-
buch, and the papyrus Ad merely givesit under an erroneous title,
whichwas evidently meantfor another text.
i. The Dreadone, V\ .&J. Instead of this Ad has
\MJ fj], which I cannot regardotherwise than as a simple

blunderof the scribe. \jt/is a well knownanaglyphin certain
scenes, but thereis no evidence of its being a variant of the name
of Chnemu.
