A SUPPLEMENTARY NOTETOGIBIL-GAMISH.*
By Prof. Dr. Fritz Hommei..
In addition to my remarks on the old fire-hero Gibil-gamish,as
a synonym of Gishdubarra-Nimrod, I now addthe following new
proofsof the assertions statedin my last article.
In Plate 15, No. 26 of his admirable work,tProf.Hilprechtgives
a small inscription of only eight short lines, which he describes,
p. 49, as follows :
c. 2250 b.C.} Creamcoloured soapstonetablet,reversebroken
off, 4-85 x 4 x o"8. Presumablyneighbourhoodof Babylon. Inscr.,
8 lines. C.B.M. 103.

X This wouldbe, according to Hilprecht's chronology(Hammurabi,2277-
2222 b.C.)contemporaneouswithHammurabi,or, in other words,the middle of
dynastyA. He was led to this approximate date,as it seems, onlyfrompateo-
graphicalreasons.
