  1. This whole passage,as it stands, in the MSS. is extremely
    obscure,andI can only makesenseof it by conjecturing that a
    prepositionhas been omittedby the copyists.
    Thekneesof a goddess are frequently mentionedin connection
    withthe birth of a divinity. Herethe Babe is mentioned (cf opening
    of Chapter42),and the closing of the knees. Theworddnh,' live,'
    has for its primitive meaning' rise up,' and it is in this sense that
    I translate it here.


CHAPTER LXVI.
Chapterwherebyone comethforthby day.
I know thatI have beenconceivedby Sechit and that I am born
of Neith.
I am Horus, whoproceedethfromthe Eye of Horus; I am Uat'it,
andI come forthlike the Hawk whichsoarethaloftandrestethupon
the brow of Ra at the prow of his Bark in Heaven.


CHAPTER LXVII.
Chapterwhereby the doors of the Tuat are opened andone cometh
forth by day.
Letthe doors be opened of the caverns of Nu, and let the feet
be loosened of those whoare in glory.
Letthe caverns of Shu be opened, thathe may comeforthat
large,andthatI may issuefrommy funereal pit to my seat whichis
at the prow of the Bark of Ra ; let me issue withoutdisasterto my
seatwhichis at the prow of the Bark of Ra, the all-radiant one,as
he riseth up from his lair.


CHAPTER LXVIII.
Chapterwherebyone comethforthby day.
Letthe twodoorsof Heaven be opened to me : let the two
doorsof Earth be opened to me : let the bolts of Seb opento me,
andlet the First Mansionbe opened to me, that he may beholdme
whohathkeptguardoverme : and let him unloosenie who hath
woundhis arms aroundme and hathfastened his arms uponme
