   the text, but we have no corresponding Europeannames.


7. / have cometo an end. Thefirsttwowords of this chapter
   are evidently copiedfromthe end of the last, but instead of menhu,
   'sacrificial slaughter,'the notion of mend or meni 'comingto an
   end,'has been substituted. Latertextsread" I do not come to an
   end."


8. It? hair. All this paragraph sounds very strangely, and
   translatorsare tempted to understand thatthe hair, side-lock, and
   skin of the deceased are acted upon by the winds.* But the
   femininesuffixshowsthatthe converse is the case. The speaker
   catchesthe air and distributesit, as we are afterwards told,to the
   faithfuldeparted.

* But we " catch Timeby the forelock," and so did the Greeks.
