CHAPTER LXXV.

Chapterwherebyone cometh to Heliopolis and receiveth a seat there.

I have come out of the Tuat : I am come fromthe ends of the
Earth,lightingup the Tank, whitherthe desires of them who bring
salutationguideme. I pass throughthe noble dwellings of those
whoare coffined. I open the dwellingof Remrem, I reach the
houseof Achsesef. (1) I am led on to the noble mysteries,andI
enterintothe house of Kemkem.
[TheTet amulet (2) layeth its two hands uponme and assigneth
me to its sister, and the custody of its mother, Kehkehit, who
settethme upon the Eastern pathof Heaven uponwhichRa ariseth
and mounteth on high eachday.
MayI too arise, andbe led on, and assumethe mummied form
as a god, andlet them set me upon thatnoblepath]whereonThoth
travellethwhen he appeaseth the two Combatants(3) as he goeth
to Pu and advancethto Tepu.


Notes.


  1. These gods are not often mentioned. Butwe are told in
    the inscriptions of Rech-ma-ra (MissionArch, du Caire, V, 127)
    that Achsesef is master of the ( jjjj § ) great hallof the Prince
    of those in Amenta. Cf. Todt., 142, 13 and 21.

  2. The Tet amulet, |, has a chapter of its own, chapter 156.
    Divinity was supposed to reside in this and the other religious
    symbols, which are often representedin pictures with handsand
    feet.


Thepartof this chapter which is within bracketsis ancient, but
is omitted in late copies.
