β-Blockers(b)are generally safe during pregnancy. There is significant
controversy over the safety of using triptans (c)during pregnancy. The con-
cern is that their vasoconstrictive properties might cause uterine vessels to
constrict, limiting fetal blood flow. Most research has shown infants born to
mothers taking triptans during pregnancy have rates of birth defects no
higher than background. Hypertension and cardiac conditions are primary
contraindications to triptan therapy, and the drug should be discontinued
if early preeclampsia is suspected. Acetaminophen and antiemetics (d and e)
are generally safe to take during pregnancy.
