the fruit.” Unlike mortal parents, who force their children to become like them and conform to
what they (mortal parents) think is good for the child,^99 advanced parents allow the child to
make the determination with their own (the child’s) free will.^100 The “tree of knowledge of
good and evil” represents mortality and a new world apart from the one where we were
foundationalized as human beings. In this “new” world, instead of having a body that does
not die, we will experience death; but in so doing, we will gain the experience of the opposite
of all that is “good,” which is referred to simply as “evil.”^101 “Evil,” then, is only a reference to
an imperfect state where the “code of humanity,” (i.e., the laws and rules of conduct observed
on all perfect human worlds) is absent, except as it is introduced to mortals by true
messengers assigned by our creators. It is because of this assignment that true messengers are
stoned and killed by the people because they do not remember the “code” and it interferes
with human “self-will” otherwise known as “Lucifer.”
All humans who choose to take permanent bodies eventually receive their own
“eternal home” on a planet that they helped plan for, according to their own personal
desires of happiness.^102 New solar systems are constantly being created throughout the
Universe to accommodate the infinite number of new humans that are being created by
advanced beings.^103 However, before the children get their own home, they choose, by their
own free will, to go through mortality. This is so that they will understand (be made “wise”)
what their advanced creators already know,^104 because they have already experienced
mortality. Thus, after experiencing the opposite of everything that is perfect about being
human^105 —as mortals—the new humans become “wise” like the “gods.”^106 When their
mortal experience is complete, they become “gods” themselves^107 and “rule and reign in the
kingdom” (in their own solar system on their own planet) of their own choosing.^108
To ensure that mortality serves its purpose of allowing newly created human beings the
opportunity to experience what it’s like to choose “evil” over “good,” advanced human
monitors intercede only when needed.^109 Such intervention occurs according to the timetable of
the earth to which they are assigned and the free-willed actions of the mortals assigned to that
earth. We have already witnessed examples of this intervention such as the dreams that
prepared Joseph Sr. and Lucy to receive Joseph Jr.’s mission and the Book of Mormon, or, as in the
case of the semi-mortal Timothy, who “happened” to be a co-laborer with Alvin and arranged
to meet Joseph for the first time through him. The way that this intervention takes place is
always without disclosing their identity or existence and without impeding the free will of the
mortal. In this way, they make certain that we have the choice of that which is “good.” And
mortal human nature does an excellent job of providing the experience of that which is
“evil”^110 —for the natural man is an enemy to God.^111
Understanding the Need for a Righteous Dictator (Overseer)
How would the newly created humans be able to one day look back on their time as
mortals and confess that being an advanced human is much more advantageous than being a
mortal? Most importantly, how would they be able to concede that no free-willed human being
who is left to him or herself can be trusted to do the right thing absolutely all of the time? In
becoming “wise,” we learn the significant need for a perfect and just DICTATOR (a “Christ”). A
Christ oversees the free will of all those assigned to a solar system after they again receive an
advanced human body of their own. If necessary, a Christ has the power to restrict free will to
ensure that the experiences of “evil” that we had as mortals will never happen again and spoil
our perfect worlds.^112
