(^113) “Billions of people believe in ancient documents written by those whom they believe
were actually ‘selected ones.’ ...[However], any and all ancient texts are nothing more than the

human understanding.” (HR, 17:35.)

(^124) While the Roman Empire had existed for some time, the period known as “Pax Romana” or
peace in Rome, began roughly 30 years prior to the birth of Christ. Similarly, while the colonies in
America had existed for some time, Joseph Smith, Jr. was born roughly 30 years after the revolution
which gave the United States its independence. Just five years before him, Hyrum was born and
faithfully served with his brother Joseph in preparation for the work he was told he would finish as
explained in the presence of witnesses just minutes before his and Joseph’s death. His (Hyrum’s
incarnation as Christopher) mission was to be “one like unto the Son of man.” Pax Romana lasted
roughly 225 years, and the incarnation of Hyrum—the author of this biography—commenced his work
as “one like unto the Son of man” by presenting to the world The Sealed Portion of the Book of Mormon in
about the same period of time after the Declaration of Independence—about 228 years later.
