Without Disclosing My True Identity

(^18) “Adam is Michael or God and all the God that we have anything to do with.” (Wilford
Woodruff, quoting Brigham Young, “April 9, 1852,” Wilford Woodruff’s Journal, Typ. Anne Wilde,
Kraut’s Pioneer Press, Salt Lake City, 21 April 2011
http://www.nhfelt.org/Doc_Other/Woodruff_Wilford.pdf.) The manuscripts are located in the
Woodruff Papers, Archives Division, Church Historical Department for The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, Salt Lake City, Utah. Also recorded in that journal are the following entries:
February 19, 1854: “He [Brigham Young] said that our God was Father Adam. He was the
Father of the Savior Jesus Christ—our God was no more or less than ADAM, Michael the Archangel.”
September 17, 1854: “Brother Pratt also thought that Adam was made of the dust of the earth;
could not believe that Adam was our God or the Father of Jesus Christ. President Young said that He
was, that He came from another world and made this, brought Eve with him, partook of the fruits of
the earth, begat [68] children and they were earthly and had mortal bodies. And if we were faithful,
we should become Gods as He was.”
December 16, 1867: “At meeting of School of the Prophets: President Young said Adam was
Michael, the Archangel, and he was the Father of Jesus Christ and was our God.”

(^34) *Note about the author: “Continuing the story of ‘How I Received The Gold Plates of
Mormon’ [found in TSP, 585–6], after Joseph raised me from the floor and placed me in one of the
chairs in the room, the first thing he said to me was, ‘Do you know why I am here?’ I responded, ‘No, I
don’t; but it’s probably because I’ve done something wrong here in the temple.’ (I suppose I could
have been a bit more refined in my answer, but at the moment, refinement and eloquence were
hardly on my mind.)
“He smiled warmly and responded, ‘No. You’ve done nothing wrong within this temple. It is the
temple that has wronged you.’ Incredulous, I looked again in the direction of my Grandfather, only to
find his gentle smile unchanged, and his look the same as I first saw it. (It has since been revealed that
my Grandfather’s image was a holographic-like appearance transposed from my own memory to
help calm me. Though Joseph was standing securely on the floor, my Grandfather’s image seemed to
float in the air. This was done through the advanced technology available to Higher, more Advanced
Human Beings, whom we have been taught to call ‘the Gods.’)
“‘I don’t understand.’ I replied.
“Joseph then explained that I was chosen to translate the remaining two-thirds of the plates
of Mormon which were sealed by Moroni. As already related in the Appendix mentioned above, I
expressed my doubts and ability to do what would be required of me to fulfill this mission. I was
assured, but I certainly wasn’t convinced, that I could do it. I listened to Joseph for a few moments as
he related some of the experiences he went through and what was happening at the time of his death.
The expression on my face, as well as the fact that he could read my mind, told Joseph that I was
confused at what I was hearing. Everything I was hearing contradicted much of what I believed and
