Twenty-Two (1827)
Moroni was quite particular to give further instructions pertaining only to the
unsealed part of the plates (because that was the only part that Joseph was allowed to
“touch” or translate in his day).^72 In these instructions, Moroni told the people that they
would not receive the sealed part until they did “rend that veil of unbelief which doth
cause you to remain in your awful state of wickedness, and hardness of heart, and
blindness of mind.”^73 The LDS/Mormon people are condemned by these words of
Moroni in their own scriptures, millions having read these words, yet none properly
understanding them. If they believe that the sealed portion has not yet been given to
them, then the cause must be their “awful state of wickedness, and hardness of heart,
and blindness of mind.” And thus it is. However, Moroni gives them a clue that it is
possible to receive the sealed portion “when” they “rend that veil of unbelief.”
Unwillingness to Rend the “Veil of Unbelief”
This “veil of unbelief” is that the LDS/Mormon people do not believe that “angels
minister unto the children of men” any longer^74 because God “hath given his power unto
men.”^75 The LDS/Mormon people believe that the “power of God” lies in the priesthood
authority of their leaders, none of which, since the death of Joseph Smith, claims to be in
constant contact with “angels” or the Three Nephites or John the Beloved. In fact, the very men
who claim to be apostles today have demonstrated the propensity to mock^76 any who claim to
have seen or spoken to these four men to whose absolute authority they lay claim. The LDS
apostles and their prophets clearly have no idea what to believe about John and the Three
Nephites, nor have they indicated any ability to receive revelation on the matter, as one would
suppose them to be “revelators.”
The LDS online Bible Dictionary, in speaking of John, refers to
his greatness and the importance of the work the Lord has given him to do on
the earth, not only in the time of the N.T., but also in the last days. We especially
have a clarification of John 21:20–23, ascertaining that John did not die, but has been
allowed to remain on the earth as a ministering servant until the time of the
Lord’s second coming.^77
To demonstrate the LDS/Mormons’ “unbelief” and hypocrisy, the advanced
monitors, working alongside the Brothers, set up the exact same experience for the
presentation of the sealed portion that they did for the unsealed portion. An “angel”
appeared to a man, gave him direction, instructions, and the Urim and Thummim, and
introduced him to the same four mentors. The LDS/Mormon people, although they believe
that Joseph’s claims were true, do not believe (“veil of unbelief”) that the same protocol
would be used in modern times, because they assume that “[God] hath given his power
unto men.”^78 They do not consider that God has never called a leader of any organization or
religion to fulfill the role of a true messenger—never, not once!
The LDS/Mormon people have a hard time understanding why others cannot accept
the story of Joseph Smith, while they, at the same time, have a hard time imagining that it could
happen in their lifetime. Would any of them have accepted Joseph’s claims had they lived in his
day? Do they believe their own scriptures, which emphatically state that God is the “same
yesterday, today, and forever?”^79 Obviously not, in most cases.
