(^16) In September of 1832, Joseph Smith revealed that the whole church was under
condemnation. One reason for this condemnation was because the people weren’t reading and
heeding the Book of Mormon and its teachings (see D&C, 84:54–8). There is no mention in any other
D&C section that this condemnation has been lifted. Ezra Taft Benson, LDS Church President from
1985–1994, also acknowledged this condemnation and stated that it was still in effect (see Ezra Taft
