brought what she had. Although there are no portraits that would be usable for
a business card, she did like some of the images the photographer did—after all,
he pulled out all the stops for her session. She decides to get an 8x10 to give to
her boyfriend. It’s not a big sale, but at least it is something (and when you’re
a photographer who puts your own desires above your client‘s, you have to be
happy with what you get).
The photographer is counting on the third session to save the morning—and
to let him pay the rent on time. The client clearly has money and he wants some
of it. As it turns out, the client actually wanted a soft, fun portrait (the desire)
to give to her mother, who recently went into a nursing-home (the need). While
this woman had the most available money to spend of all the clients that morn-
ing, she is also accustomed to getting exactly what she wants for her money.
