ing exposure and development, and makes his
own prints.
In 1995, the Bienecke Rare Book and Manuscript
Library at Yale University agreed to acquire Plow-
den’s complete archive, his prints and negatives,
published work, his notes, correspondence, journals,
and tapes. It is fitting testimony to his central impor-
tance as a photographer of American culture.
