past a certain point (see Rule #10, above.) If there is no appreciable change in
pitch or tempo you may have picked the wrong resistor as the clock timing
component – solder it back into the board and use your finger to search again for
the hot spot (as we did in the previous chapter.)
Note: one can also change the clock frequency by varying the capacitor in the
clock circuit, rather than the resistor, but this is very difficult to make
continuously variable.
