empowerment, of unlimited abundance. On the other hand, trishna
means a resistance to the fl ow, or resisting what is. It includes all
negative and limiting thoughts and refl ects a state of victimhood
and scarcity. A “ choice ” opens possibilities; a “ decision ” closes
possibilities. After feeling the difference implied in these words,
I now say “ choose, ” rather than “ decide. ” To decide is to kill off
other choices, and I choose not to suggest a loss of freedom or
opportunities. Obviously, positive thinking consistently or habit-
ually requires a moment - to - moment awareness and a choice to
do so. And persistence is continually embracing (or surrendering to)
a choice you ’ ve already made.

Day 10: Create Abundance, Past and Future

One of the experientials I facilitate with Ricers allows them a real -
life experience of practicing how to express their enthusiasm, with
a partner who listens supportively versus one who negates any pos-
sibility they will succeed. It is a very revealing exercise, which you
could practice at home with another willing friend.
My game rules involve two people with twenty - four to thirty
minutes to share; having a third person to be the timekeeper and
facilitator is optimal but not required. You could use a timer to assist
you in staying focused on the exercise, rather than on the time. The
person sharing gets an opportunity to express his or her enthusiasm
for certain goals for the upcoming year (for successful weight loss
and all accompanying plans to support this effort, such as specifi c
weight - loss goals, with defi nitive time frames stated and detailing
exercise commitment, cooking agenda, and other creative ways the
person will succeed with his or her mission) and exaggerates this
passion through body language as well as with words.
You want to think big? Take off your blinders and expand your
vision on how you will accomplish this goal and how that feels. It is
easiest to really claim this much confi dence and enthusiasm if you
speak in the fi rst person and present tense; express yourself as if
you are actually standing there one year from today; for instance,
“ I knew last year when I claimed my year ’ s weight - loss goal of fi fty
pounds that I would achieve it! I am so thrilled that you are here
