I was awake and alert three days later in intensive care.
I was asked by a team of doctors, “ Mrs. Hancock, who is the
president of the U.S.?” I commented with a giggle, “ Everyone
knows that ’ s Hillary Clinton! ” My husband said, “ She ’ s back! ”
My experience with good health was short - lived... long enough
to eat a slice of that birthday cake, and I was back in the
hospital. For the next year I would experience many hospi-
tals and many emergency rooms. As I worsened, a countless
number of physicians indicated I could not live much lon-
ger... maybe a few weeks. The irony is that my husband,
Tommy, developed the specialty of hospital law in the U.S.,
and he is one of the founders and CEO of Diamond Health
Care Corporation. He owned hospitals, but none could
help or save me. I, who lectured on faith, prepared to die.
When I fi nally took to the bed with legs too weak to per-
form and speech too garbled to understand, I was convinced
the end was near. I did everything but die. I was ready, but
God wasn ’ t.
Who could believe the Rice Diet saved my life? Who could
believe that all the medicine in the world couldn ’ t? I was on
a strict regimen of rice and fruit. Liquid potassium was intro-
duced as I couldn ’ t swallow pills. In two weeks ’ time I was
walking and back to my babbling brook self! There are many

I continue ten years later with rice and fruit and potassium,
plus grains, beans, vegetables, some meat, and other unpro-
cessed, no - salt - added foods — and I am well! I am enjoying
three grandchildren, have seen my younger daughter married
and give birth — I have seen new life and have my own back!
Miracles are only miracles because we don ’ t believe they can
happen. They happen every day. It is God ’ s will. The Rice Diet
