Tommy gave me a sly, impish grin and ingeniously responded,
“ If we don ’ t listen to God when we ’ re awake, He ’ ll come to us when
we are asleep! ” When these dreams come, I know that what has
been revealed will occur. If I continue to walk toward the prize, it
is a done deal!
Some of you may not currently remember your dreams, but
I can assure you that the following techniques can greatly enhance
your ability to retain them more often. First, desire to remember
them and begin to anticipate and expect them. Second, seek God
and the company of those who you feel are mature in their faith,
read books such as Morton Kelsey ’ s Dreams: A Way to Listen to God ,
and attend conferences that include dream work, such as Progoff ’ s
Intensive Journal Process. Although I have never met anyone who
can program their dreams effectively on a daily basis, nor do I think
we necessarily know enough to benefi t from such a practice, I have
found that God provides such personal revelation when I am most
desirous and in need of it.
Someone once said, “ Expect the best and you often get it! ”
I have seen this to be true in my own life and in the lives of many
people I have served and shared with. While facilitating classes,
I often encourage participants to take off their imaginary lids, hats,
helmets, and visors and make a dream list of what they have always
wanted to do regardless of how “ out there ” their critical brain may
at fi rst judge this process to be. Despite the fact that we are all
quite practiced at making up stories that justify why we cannot do
certain things or cannot actualize our wildest dreams, let ’ s play the
angel ’ s advocate. You can benefi t from such a dream experiential in
the comfort of your bed at home.


Day 21: Intentionally Inspiring Rest and Creating
Desired Dreams


Tonight perform the following preparatory acts to inspire a deep
and restful sleep and to have a desired dream, remember it, and
document it for further refl ection. To relax yourself, you can medi-
