Contributing Artist Bio’s
Dr. Stephanie Furry Mason is Senior Lecturer of Horn at the Gretsch School of Music Georgia Southern
University where she teaches horn and directs the Horn Ensemble. Stephanie is Principal Horn with the Hilton
Head Symphony Orchestra, SC and freelances throughout the region as a soloist, chamber, and orchestral
musician. Before teaching at Georgia Southern, Stephanie performed and recorded extensively with many Los
Angeles (CA) orchestras and studios including Paramount, Fox, Universal, Sony, Warner Brothers, and Capital
Records. As a studio hornist, she played for major motion pictures, television movies, specials, vocal artists,
and commercial jingles. Some of her movie credits include Meet Joe Black, The Negotiator, For Love of the
Game, and South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. Vocal artists she has recorded with include Natalie Cole, Prince,
Brian McKnight and many others. Her prior orchestral experience includes performing with the Pacific
Symphony, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Hollywood Brass Ensemble, Santa Barbara Symphony, and many other
ensembles in the Southern California region. Stephanie received her D.M.A. in Horn Performance from the
University of Southern California, where she studied with legendary hornist, Vincent DeRosa.
Jacob Medlin holds degrees in horn performance from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and
Indiana University. He apprenticed under Rick Seraphinoff, historical horn builder, before establishing his own
shop to build modern valve horns. Now in Apex NC, he designs and builds horns with a special interest in
making horn playing easier and more enjoyable. Jacob’s instruments are played throughout the nation, from
the Metropolitan Opera, to the St. Louis Symphony, to your NC Symphony.
Brianna Nayis a doctoral candidate at Florida State University studying with Michelle Stebleton. She has spent
over a decade teaching students from beginning to collegiate levels. Brianna has performed with the Chandler
Symphony Orchestra, the Phoenix Brass Collective, the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, the Big Bend Brass
Quintet, and the Wakulla Wind Quintet
A native of New Orleans, Tarre Nelson grew up in Tallahassee, Florida in a musical household. They received a
bachelor’s degree in performance from DePaul University where they studied with Jim Smelser of the CSO.
Tarre then moved to Glasgow to study with Steph Jones of the BBCSSO, where they received a master’s degree
in performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Tarre is currently studying at Florida State University
for a doctorate in brass performance and pedagogy. While attending the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland,
Tarre won performance schemes, which are side-by-side programs, with the BBCSSO and SCO. They then went
on to work with both orchestras as a freelancer. Tarre also frequently performed with the Nevis Ensemble, a
street orchestra that brings music to anyone, anywhere. Tarre also enjoys playing chamber music. They are a
founding member of The Fountain Five, a woodwind quintet based in Tallahassee, Florida. Tarre is an avid
supporter of contemporary music. They have worked with prestigious composers such as Seung-Won Oh and
Ronald Caltabianoto premier solo, chamber, and orchestral pieces. Tarre has also commissioned composers
such as Hannah Barnes and Tyler Taylor to write chamber works featuring the horn.
Seth Orgel, Professor of Horn at Louisiana State University, has degrees from Northwestern University and
Louisiana State University. His principal teachers were Dale Clevenger, Richard Oldberg, and Gail Williams.
After more than ten seasons with the Syracuse Symphony horn section he moved to Boston to pursue an
active freelance career including shows, jazz orchestras, orchestral and chamber work. Orchestral credits
include the Chicago Symphony, the Filarmonicade Caracas, The Iris Chamber Orchestra, Rhode Island
Philharmonic, Rochester Philharmonic, Buffalo Philharmonic, Louisiana Philharmonic, Baton Rouge Symphony,
and the Memphis Symphony. At LSU he performs regularly with both the faculty wind and brass quintets. Mr.
Orgel is a member of the Atlantic Brass Quintet with whom he tours internationally. The Atlantic Brass Quintet
has ten CDs available, the most recent, Ascent, featuring a commission for Atlantic by Shane Endsley.
During the course oftheir studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Isabella and Jordan Redd met while
playing in the Husker Horn Choir. A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, Isabella Redd began playing the horn at age 10.
In May 2021, Bella graduated from the university of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Arts degree in horn
performance and a minor in business. As a member of the Husker Horn Studio, Bella performed with the UNL
Symphony Orchestra and UNL Wind Ensemble. During her time at UNL, Bella won the Nebraska Music
Teachers Association Collegiate Performance Competition (Brass) in 2019. The following year, she received
second place in the Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Competition (Brass) for the Nebraska
state round. Bella is a MM student at Southern Illinois University –Carbondale. Dr. Jordan Redd is currently the
horn and theory instructor at Lindenwood University. Dr. Redd has become a local, regional, national, and
international award-winning soloist. Achievements include: First Prize in the Charleston International Romantic
Music Competition, First Prize in the Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition, and First Prize in the Golden Music
Classical Awards. Recently Dr. Redd made his Weill Recital Hall solo debut at Carnegie Hall. Additionally, Dr.
Redd was twice a National Finalist in the Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Brass Competition.
Dr. Redd was also a Finalist for the 2019 and 2020 PhilharmoniaOrchestra of London Brass Fellowship.
