TESTS OF DIVISIBILITY
Tests of divisibility
If the nature of divisibility among numbers is understood then the divisors can be found
easily without performing complete division.
- Numbers ending with 0 are divisible by 10.
- Numbers ending with 0 or 5 are divisible by 5.
- Numbers ending with 0,2,4,6 and 8 are divisible by 2.
- If the number formed by the last two digits of a given number is divisible by 4 , then
the number will be divisible by 4. - If the sum of the digits of a number is divisible by 3, then the number will be
divisible by 3. - To check whether a particular number is divisible by 6, follow the test of divisibility
by 2 and then by 3. - If the number formed by the last three digits of a given number is divisible by 8,
then the number will be divisible by 8. - If the sum of the digits of a number is divisible by 9, then the number is divisible
by 9.
