- Scientific notation
The scientific notation for a number is, that number written to the power of 10
multiplied by another number ‘x’ such that 1 ≤ x <10.
In other words, the method in which very large and very small numbers are expressed
using the powers of 10 is called scientific notation.
Eg. : The diameter of the sun is 4567000000 feet = 4.567 ×^109 feet.
Wave length of red light is 0.00000216 cm = 2.16 ×^10 -6 cm.
The idea of scientific notation may be taught with small examples first with
provision of adequate written material in Braille.
