LUNARYEAR
A lunar year is a year of 12 lunar months (12 synodic periods), or 354.367 days. There
are 34 such lunar years for every 33 solar years. The traditional Muslim year is a lunar
year. Many civilizations have utilized soli-lunar years, which retain the Moon’s synod-
ic period for months but also insert an intercalary month to keep the years aligned
with the period of Earth’s revolution around the Sun.

LUNATION
A lunation is a complete cycle between two new moons, also referred to as a synodic
month. Lunations average 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, and 2.7 seconds. The term
“lunation” can also be used interchangeably with “new moon.”

LYSISTRATA
Lysistrata, asteroid 897 (the 897th asteroid to be discovered, on August 3, 1918), is
approximately 46 kilometers in diameter and has an orbital period of 4.1 years. It was
named after the heroine of the Greek comedy Lysistrata.Lysistrata led a revolt of
women across Greece, who as a group withheld sexual favors until the men agreed to
stop war. Lysistrata represents the healing as well as the manipulative power of sex.
The sign and house position of this planetoid in a natal chart indicates how and where
this power manifests for each individual.
