ences of both the AFA and the United Astrolo-
gy Conference (UAC), as well as at Matrix
itself. The conferences were always very well
attended and participation was very active,
reaching incendiary levels at times.

MATUTINE(MATUTINAL)
Stars that rise in the early morning before the
Sun are referred to as matutine. The planets,
particularly the Moon, Mercury, and Venus, can
be matutinal.

MEANMOTION
Because celestial bodies move in elliptical
orbits, their speed varies depending upon their
location. Mean motion refers to their average
speed.

MEDEA
Medea, asteroid 212 (the 212th asteroid to be
discovered, on February 6, 1880), is approxi-
mately 132 kilometers in diameter and has an
orbital period of 5.5 years. Medea was named
after the princess who helped Jason obtain the
Golden Fleece. J. Lee Lehman associates this
asteroid with planning strategy, as well as with bringing together seemingly opposed
emotions. Jacob Schwartz gives Medea’s astrological influence as “intense emotions
and boding with extreme love or hate or both simultaneously.”

MEDICALASTROLOGY
There are two completely different components to medical astrology: one that belongs
in nativities, and one that is done through interrogations. Both parts have their gene-
sis in Hellenistic astrology.
