Believing That You Can

Heart of Gold
Baby, you’re my warmth in the cold.
Your heart is like fine gold.
When you hold me, I can feel our souls connect.
I don’t think you realize the effect.
When I hear your voice, my heart skips a beat.
We lay together; I can feel the heat. You’re gone; I weep.
But when you’re here you sweep me off my feet.
Your kisses are so soft and sweet.
When you’re far, I can hear your heart beat for me.
Tonight I feel you back in my arms,
But I know you were never really gone.

Andee Spears is an adult learner in the Pathways/High School

I Am
I am unhappy. I wonder why I'm here. I hear voices
Calling my name. I see my future on front of me.
I want to get away as far I can from this place
I am unhappy
I pretend to be someone I’m not
I feel like I'm alone sometimes
I touch my chest and feel my heart beating fast
I worry about how I'm going to end up
I cry just thinking about it I am unhappy
I understand that I'm here for a reason
I said things that I never should have said
I try not to think about it
I hope my bad thoughts will go away
I am unhappy
